Master Bedroom

Made our own fabric headboard
Over the weekend, Richard and I re-painted and decorated our bedroom - finally!  After three years without furniture, light ugly green walls and curtains falling off of the wall we finally did it.  We first painted the walls a tan color and the inner ceiling a creamy white color to blend in with the ceiling fan.  Then we made our own fabric headboard.  It was my first time making a headboard so I was very nervous and anxious to get it right.  It turned out better than I thought it would.
Mounted our TV on the wall
We then hung new curtains and added new side tables along with our lamps.  I developed and framed some aspen leaves that I took at Maroon Bells National Park in Aspen and mounted them above our bed.  Richard was able to mount our TV on the wall and hide the cords, so it allowed me to have a nice comfy chair to set and relax in my new bedroom.

It was tiring, but well worth the effort, time and money.  It feels like a brand new room.  The next project is our bathroom...before and after photos for that one to come.

Until next time...

Ashley's Artwork

Ashley's artwork displayed at the center
We received notice earlier this week that Ashley's artwork was one of the pieces chosen by the teacher to represent her class level and school.  It would be displayed at the Cottonwood Art Center downtown and given awards.  We were very proud of her!

On Friday evening we went to the center to view her artwork.  We found it and to our surprise she received the "Honorable Mention" award.  We talked to a woman there and she said that the art piece was awarded because of how Ashley captured the motion of the snowman skating down the hill.  Ashley was very happy that she received an award and his excited to be taking art classes this year.

Until next time...

Snow and Cold...Brrr

Sledding at Cottonwood Creek Center
We have received almost a 6-8 inches of snow over the past few weeks.  It was very beautiful seeing it come down on and off during the day.  It definitely feels like winter and it is a nice change from seeing the brown due to the lack of snow. Richard took the kids sledding down the hills at Cottonwood Creek Center.  Ashley had a blast, but Nathan...not so much.  He is still unsure of the snow and was crying, fell down a few times and cried even more.  He didn't want anything to do with the cold, sledding or the snow. Next winter season for him....

Snow in the backyard
It has been very cold in Colorado this week. We reached -17 degrees during the early morning!  With only the highs in the low single digits. I don't remember it being this cold for such a long period of time.  Ashley's school has been closed the last two days due to the extreme cold and the snow is not melting when the sun comes out..when that happens here at our house you definitely know it is really cold outside.

Stay warm and until next time...
