Trip to the Zoo

Lions were up and roaring
Richard took the kids to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo last Friday.

The weather was a little chilly but the animals were out and active.  They saw the lions walking around, grunting and roaring.  They said it was really cool to hear! I heard on the blog that they are allowing them to have a private area where they could mate - so we could have little cubs to visit soon!

Ashley riding the horse

The baby giraffe was getting taller and they saw one of the tigers out walking around, but could not see the second one this time.  The gorillas were in their outdoor enclosure eating veggies. The baby gorilla was not to be found - wonder were it was?

The kids had a great time riding the carousal and drinking their icees.

Four Mile Ranch

View of the 3rd hole on the golf course
Richard had two days off this last week and went to the Four Mile Ranch golf course down in Canyon City. He wanted to try out his new putter and experience the golf course that was #4 for the best new places to play.

Richard: I'd been wanting to play this course since it had opened because all the reviews I read said the course had a very creative layout with lots of beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

The course was a blast to play, there were some cool rock formations and on a couple of the holes the greens were shaped like a bowl, so if you hit a shot a little to the left or right, the balls would funnel down to the middle.  It was neat!

Since I was playing on a weekday in late March there weren't many people on the course so I was playing by myself, which gave me the chance to practice a bit and just relax and have fun.  The only problem was that near the end of the round it got very windy.  On one hole I had my ball on the tee and it was wiggling because the wind was blowing so hard.

It was a fun day and I can't wait to play the course again later in the summer when the grass is greener and a touch warmer, it was a little chilly out there.  But hey, I got to play golf in March so I'm not complaining.

Ashley's school musical

Ashley as Madam Cow
On Thursday, Ashley had her 1st grade school musical!

She had been practicing for two months and we were excited to see all of her hard work.  It was called E-I-E-I-O where a cow would not moo on the farm.  So the animals including sheep, pigs, chickens, a donkey where there to help her out...and she finally was able to moo.

Rich and I were very proud of her and she looked so adorable in the cow costume.  Ashley was able to say her lines and accomplish her part very well. Go Ashley...

Beatiful Rose

Beautiful Rose
I found these roses on the clearance section of the store the other day. Just a few days old with little spots showing. They were discarded as no longer valued at their full price - they were not even budding yet!

I brought them home, trimmed them, removed the old petals and gave them fresh water.

They were beautiful and full of life just a few short days later.  A little love and caring is all it took...

Until next time...

Richard's Birthday

Happy Birthday Richard!
Over the weekend we celebrated Richard's birthday - turning 37 years old!

On Sunday we sang happy birthday - Nathan helping to blow out the candles.  LezLee got him a gift card to Hacienda and the movie Catching Fire (hunger games series).

After the celebration, I took him to Dick's sporting goods store where he finally bought a new golf putter.  It has been a long time since he had a new one and enjoyed picking one out.

I took him to dinner at Hacienda (his favorite resturant) where we enjoyed some margaritas and Mexican food. It was a good day!

Nathan & Water

Last Tuesday, I had a huge wet mess to clean up in my kitchen!  Why you ask?

I come upstairs from working out and Nathan is on the counter, the kitchen sink water in running and the sprayer in his hands....yep...he sprayed the whole kitchen with 2 inches of water!!  The stove, counter tops, refrigerator and floors on all sides were soaking wet.

Oh boy...was I surprised, dumbfounded and upset - and Nathan knew it.  He slowly puts down the sprayer and looks at me.  Of course, I had to give some punishment and tell him what a bad boy he was.

Two hours later, two rolls of paper towels and the wet-vac to the rescue the kitchen was back to normal. Of course some base boards and cook books were damaged but nothing serious.  That's my boy....

Until next time...
